Aloula Dates — Premium Packaging
Aloula Estate · Premium Packaging Photography
Aloula Estate is an Aswan-based date producer launching a high-end Ramadan and corporate-gifting line: four single-cultivar Egyptian dates — Medjool, Sukkari, Barhi and Khalas — in lacquered wooden boxes.
Packaging was designed by a Riyadh studio in a restrained ivory-and-bronze palette. Photography had to live up to the design. The brief requested images that read as still life — closer to a museum catalogue than a food brand.
Two image families: lush hero composites of each date variety, and minimalist single-fruit specimen shots used on the inner card of every box.
Hero composites were built on hand-finished plaster surfaces in three tones — bone, ash and oxblood — under a single tungsten source raked at twenty degrees, with a long bounce returning fill from below. Dates were arranged in tight architectural drifts; props were limited to a brass tray and a single linen runner.
Specimen shots were the slower work. Each variety was photographed from three angles, on a ground-glass surface lit with a deep top key and minimal fill, and graded to read like botanical plates. Skin texture, condensation, and stone visibility were all preserved without retouching.
The campaign launched ten days before Ramadan. The premium line sold through its first six-month allocation in the first month.
